Hiking and Home Improvement

Yesterday, Evan and I went on a short (~1 hour) hike in the Palo Alto Foothills park. It's been a very long time since I did any hiking, particularly without the impetus of a visit by a member of the extended family. It rained lightly through a portion of our hike, but that turned out to be a good thing, because it kept us from overheating and it produced not one but two separate rainbows, both of which we got excellent views of (one at the beginning and one at the end of our hike). The one at the end was quite close to us, making it look like we almost could have trotted down the hill and found where it hit the ground.

We also made some major progress at home. We finally made it to Bed Bath and Beyond together to look at curtains. After a false start involving a pair of woven/tapestry curtains that looked lovely in the store but ricidulous in our home, we settled on some basic light beige panels with tabs at the tops of all of the living room/dining room/kitchen windows. It's a definitely improvement, letting in a lot more light and giving the place a more unified look, while still giving us the easy option of closing out the light to watch movies or play games on the big screen. Victory is ours!!
